Earlier this
year the Management and Staff of TDF FUELS were becoming increasingly
concerned about the rising cost of Energy in general. Fossil fuel, Gas and
Oil users are facing the prospect of Energy costs continually hitting new
highs.
Faced with the fact that
many users were finding difficulty meeting their Home Heating Bills, we
decided that in as much as it was in our interest, it would be more so to
the benefit of our customers if a solution to the “Energy costs shock” on
their pockets could be found and introduced.
We concluded that what TDF
FUELS sought was a formal method of budgeting.
A straw poll of our
customers revealed they had no love of the Direct Debit Regular Top-up
system despite acknowledging the security it boasted. They felt we, the
supplier, might top them up when prices were high rather than at ‘quiet’
times.
They also vetoed the
rigidity of Direct Debit stating that regardless of Birthdays, Holidays or
‘Back to School’ expenses the Direct Debit would be drawn on their Bank
Account on the due date.
Since Customer Relations
is important to TDF FUELS we shelved the Direct Debit option.
Next to come under our
scrutiny was PayPoint. Many large national companies use this method
whereby their Customers are issued with a swipe card. Customers can use
their card to make payments of varying amounts at any convenient time to
add credit to their account. The cards can be used at any PayPoint outlet,
be it corner shop or Service Station.
We explained PayPoint to
our Customers – Security, Convenience, Flexibility, Easy of use and the
fact that they, the Customer, retain control of when and how much credit
they pay into their account. It’s up to the Customer to decide when they
want an oil delivery.
Encouraged by their
response and after a lot of time, effort and expense the TDF FUELS HOME
HEATING OIL PREPAY SCHEME was born.
